professional badminton

question: do you like the courts here? lcw: i really like the courts here because as a professional athlete its important that courts are set up in a way which lessen the chance of injuries. i find the wooden underlay on the courts very good. question: which match has been the toughest for you so far? lcw: do you mean in this competition?

yes. lcw: actually so far, i have not encountered a tough match. i am enjoying every match in the australian badminton open, i hope i can play my best in every match. question: have you recovered from your sickness? lcw: after i played the all england tournament i felt quiet sick. i was recovering in malaysia for two weeks but wasn't making much progress with my recovery. lcw: in fact, there was a risk i couldn't make it but having never been to sydney, i really wanted to go. i decided to come here and i felt much better after i landed in sydney. question: how do you recover so quickly for your next match? lcw: i give it my best in every match. i hope everyone can see that i enjoy my games. every game is important to me. after every match i make sure i rest and eat well. question: do you let your wife beat you in badminton? lcw: of course! for sure! she's a female. males and females have different physical strength and speed, so yes.

question: are you sometimes afraid that your smashes will destroy the planet? lcw: noooo! as a professional badminton player when we smash we want it to be a kill so i smash hard. lcw: the audience enjoys our heavy smashing. when i smash i try to be as precise and close to the sidelines as possible. question:do you go out to eat in sydney or do you have your own chef? lcw: no, i don't have my own chef. sydney has plenty of great choices, especially in china town. i go out to eat with my friends and my team members. question: what do you do when you're not playing badminton? lcw: shopping! yeah we all love to shop. lcw: in malaysia its very hard for me to go out. so its great to be able to do that in sydney. i can go out until 3pm and then prepare for my next match. thats what i do every day when i'm here.

question: what is your favourite malaysian food? lcw: people are saying that there is a great malaysian cafe here in china town that sells roti chanai. i went there to try it out - it was great! question: do you get homesick when you travel for tournaments? lcw: definitely. i call home every day to speak to my family and to update them on my progress. question: will you come back to sydney again next year for the super series? lcw: definitely, i would love to come back next year for the super series and i also hope to bring my family with me to visit sydney. thank you chong wei.
